No Escaping Failure

There’s no escaping failure from time to time, especially when you spend as much time at one thing as I do. Sometimes I get an idea in my head and can’t let it go, even after I see that the results are not getting me where I want to be.

I love photography and this time wanted it to take center stage in an art quilt. All these photos are printed on various fabrics and fused onto a cotton backing. But it’s not working….yet.  It’s way too busy and has no focal point. I’m not going to toss it because there are aspects of it that are working effectively – the top and sides are pretty cohesive, but the center is chaotic to say the least!  I have been told I’m a persistent bitc….

So, if at first I don’t succeed, I tried and failed again!

…a bit of an improvement, but still no cohesion and no focal point – what was I thinking?  I wasn’t. Obviously. I was driven through this process and I’m not yet sure why.  Perhaps I just had to get it out of my system. And I do think that’s part of it. But I feel that it’s taking me somewhere and I’m going with it for the ride!

  1. great to hear other’s viewpoints on their creations that have not yet come to a happy ‘fruition’. I think we all need to hear that artists do not bat 1000 every time we get up to bat 🙂 great message !
